New Delhi: The Women’s T20 World Cup is around the corner and South Africa is all geared up for hosting the tournament. The ICC tournament was last played in 2020 where Australia won the cup against India in the finals. With the Women’s Premiere League arriving at the centre stage of cricket this year, the Women’s T20 World Cup is much more crucial and exciting this time.
For the first time, ICC has an all-female panel of umpires and match referees to officiate in a global event. The tournament features 10 teams in two groups. Group A includes Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and Group B consisted of India, England, Pakistan, West Indies and Ireland.
Australia led by Meg Lanning is definitely the favourites and meanwhile, India has been the only team to halt the Aussies’ winning streak for once in the last 17 T20Is. India will begin their campaign against Pakistan on February 12.
