New Delhi: India registered a convincing win over Afghanistan, as they chased down the 273-run target with 8 wickets and 90 balls to spare.

India started their chase with all guns blazing as the openers added 156 runs for the first wickets in just 122 deliveries.

Ishan Kishan (47) was the first one to depart and missed his much-deserved half-century by just 3 runs.

Rohit (131) completed his century filled with records before getting dismissed by Rashid in the 26th over.

After Rohit’s wicket, Kohli (55*) and Iyer (25*) took charge of the innings and took India to home in the 35th over.

India now moves to second spot in the points table with this win.

Rashid Khan was Afghanistan’s only successful bowler, with 2 wickets under his name.

Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first.

Afghanistan started their innings cautiously, but both the Afghanistan openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (21) and Ibrahim Zadran (22), couldn’t build up on a good start and saw Afghanistan soon reduced to 63 for 3 on a good batting surface.

However, after the early dents, Afghanistan replied strongly with a 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket, between Hashmatullah Sahidi (80) and Azmatullah Omarzai (62), helping Afghanistan with their resurgence.

Despite suffering late blows from Bumrah, quickfire cameos of Rashid Khan (16) and Mujeeb (11*) helped Afghanistan finish with a challenging total of 272, on the board.

Bumrah was India’s star of the day with the ball who took 4 wickets for 39 runs. Hardik took 2, while Shardul and Kuldeep got one wicket each.
