New Delhi: The ICC World Cup 2023, in India, has been one of the most successful tournaments from the batsmen’s point of view, as we have seen a number of high-scoring matches and a number of centuries from the batsmen.
However, as they say, the batsman wins you a match, and the bowlers win you the tournament. There are some players who have been absolutely unplayable for the batsmen when they are in their full groove.
These bowlers have been so deadly that even the teams with great batting records have flattered in front of them.
Today, let’s take a look at the top 5 bowlers at the ICC World Cup 2023, so far, who have been absolutely lethal with their ability to take regular wickets
Top 5 bowlers of the tournament
1] Dilshan Madhushanka (Sri Lanka)- 18 wickets
The Sri Lankan team have suffered a disappointing campaign in the ICC World Cup 2023, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with their fast bowling spearhead Dilshan Madhushanka, who is curtly leading the bowler’s chart with his extraordinary performances.
Rohit Sharma clean bowled – that should be the ball of the match OR ball of the tournament! What a delivery 👌👌👌 #INDvSL #WorldCup23 pic.twitter.com/gxFLHmetGC

Madhushanka has taken 18 wickets in 7 matches with an average of 22.11 with him.
2] Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan)- 16 wickets
The pace bowling spearhead of the Pakistani cricket team started his tournament on an average note, but he soon gained momentum and is one of the main reasons why Pakistan is still alive in the hunt for the semifinals.

3] Marco Jansen (South Africa)- 16 wickets
The young South African pacer has proved that he is ready to carry the rich, fast bowling legacy of the South African team by leading the charge for his team in the ICC World Cup 2023. Jansen’s ability to pick early wickets has helped the Proteas to choke the opponents from the get-go, so much so that while bowling second, South Africa’s smallest margin of victory is 102 runs.

Jansen has taken a total of 16 wickets from 7 matches with an impressive average of 20.06.
4] Adam Zampa (Australia)- 16 wickets
The Aussie leg spinner is the only spinner in the top 5 list. If that’s not enough to prove his class, nothing can. He is only of the prime reason for Australia’s dramatic comeback after losing the first two games.
Another four-wicket haul for Adam Zampa and he has now taken the most wickets in #CWC23 so far! 🔥 #AsianParaGames2022 #BehindYouBabarAzam #UFC295 #INDvsENG #INDvsSA #MAXWELL #PAKvsAFG #BabarAzam𓃵 #AUSvsNED pic.twitter.com/Z8cSe2C0PL

Interestingly, Adam Zampa is the sole regular spinner in the whole Australian squad.
Zampa has taken 16 wickets with an average of 19.06.
5] Jasprit Bumrah (India)- 15 wickets
India came into the tournament with only one thing in their mind, i.e., total domination, and so they did. With ball or with bat, India is not giving their opponents any room to breathe and has been all over them.

One of the main reasons behind their absolute domination is Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah, with his early wickets with new ball and late strikes in the death, has completely choked his opposition team and has made India a force to be reckoned with.
Bumrah has so far taken 15 wickets in 7 matches with the best average among the top 5 bowlers of just 14.06.
