The semifinalists

There are three teams who have already punched their tickets for the final four, i.e., India, South Africa and Australia, and they are waiting for the final entry to join the knockout stages of the ICC World Cup 2023.

The hosts India, who have the perfect win record at this year’s World Cup edition, are sitting at the top of the points table with 16 points in 8 matches and will stay there despite the result of their final match against Netherlands on Sunday.

The men in blue will now, sit back and enjoy three teams to set up their match against them on November 15, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The second spot, South Africa and the third spot, Australia, have the same record of 12 points in 8 matches with 6 wins, and two losses. They can interchange the positions depending on the results of their final match but are already set to face each other in the second semifinals at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, on November 16.

The fight for the final spot

With the Netherlands eliminated, only three teams are left in contention for the final spot, i.e., Afghanistan, New Zealand and Pakistan.

All three teams have 8 points in 8 matches and will be hoping for the other two to lose their final game and then win the final game themselves to get an easy qualification.

However, if all three teams win their final game, then the net run rate will come into the equation to get the final spot in the semifinals, and the black caps will be the most comfortable team out of the three as they have the advantage over the other two teams.
