ICC World Cup 2023: 2 Indian players feature in Top 5 run-scores, de Cock tops the charts

Rohit Sharma and Md. Shami are number 2 Indians in the list.

New Delhi: ICC World Cup 2023, has entered its final stages as only 12 matches are left in the league stages now.

This edition of the World Cup has produced some incredible results, with teams like Afghanistan and Netherlands securing huge wins against the likes of England and South Africa, respectively.

The results have been so dramatic that the defending champions, England after 33 matches the defending champions England, are reeling at the bottom of the points table.

Although cricket is considered a team game, it’s often some individuals who lead the charge with their destructive form to take their team over the line.

Let’s take a look at some of these great players who are leading the charge for their team with bat in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Top 5 batsmen

1] Quinton de Kock (South Africa)- 545 runs

The South African opener shocked the world when he announced that he would be retiring from the limited-over format after the end of the ICC World Cup 2023, as he is one of the finest limited-overs cricketers the game has ever produced.

However, De Kock did not allow his retirement plans to come into the picture and seems to be enjoying whatever time he is left with, so much so that he is currently the leading run-getter in the tournament with 545 runs in 7 matches with an average of 77.86.

De Kock has also scored 4 centuries in this edition and is only one more century away from Rohit Sharma’s 5 centuries in a single edition of the World Cup record set in the 2019 World Cup.

2] Virat Kohli (India)- 442 runs

The King from India is supposedly playing his last World Cup for his nation, and this absolute legend of the game has made his mission to make sure that India’s decade-long hunt for an ICC trophy, will come to an end in their home ground.

Virat Kohli has scored 442 runs in 7 matches with an impressive average of 88.40.

3] Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand)- 415 runs

The 23-year-old youngster from Wellington, New Zealand, took the world by storm when he scored a fast-paced 143-run innings in the very first match to help his team sink the defending champions, England.

Carrying the names of two absolute legends from Indian Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, Rachin is destined to go big in sports history.

This season, Rachin has accumulated a total of 415 runs in 7 matches with an average of 69.17.

4]  David Warner (Australia)- 413 run

The Aussie southpaw is also likely to be appearing in his last-ever World Cup and has finally returned to his Vintage form, as he already has two centuries under his name this season.

Warner also equalled Sachin’s record of most centuries in the World Cups with 6 centuries and is only a century away from Rohit Sharma’s 7 centuries record.

Warner has scored 413 runs in 6 matches with an impressive average of 68.83.

5]  Rohit Sharma (India)- 402 runs

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has led the charge from the front for his team, giving a fast start so that the players coming after him can have time to settle down before going berserk on their opponents.

If we leave India’s first and last match, Rohit has been the pillar around which the team has revolved in the tournament so far.

Rohit has scored 402 runs in 7 matches with an average of 57.43 with him.
