He also shared that he would not be able to be a part of the remainder of the season and even the finals of the World Test Championship against Australia. The batter penned a heartfelt note thanking LSG and BCCI for their support.

Sharing a picture of him injured, Rahul wrote that he has decided to undergo surgery after the consultation with the medical team. He wrote that he feels gutted to miss the WTC final and will do everything to ‘get back in blue’. He also thanked fans for their messages and motivation and wrote that he will keep them updated about his recovery. He ended the note by writing that the injuries are never easy, but he will give it his best like always.

His colleagues Devdutt Paddikal, Krunal Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi wished for his speedy recovery in the comment section.

Rahul, who recently returned after a groin surgery, was part of the WTC squad as a backup opening batter and wicketkeeper. BCCI will now have to look towards Ishan Kishan to be the backup wicketkeeper for the finals to be played at The Oval in England from June 7 onwards.

Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya will be leading LSG in KL Rahul’s absense.

India is missing many of its players due to injury, including its ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari getting injured paved the way for Ajinkya Rahane to be back in the Test squad. However, another LSG player, Jaydev Unadkat, who was also part of the WTC final squad, also got injured in the nets. He fell and hurt his shoulder, but is likely to recover for the one-off Test match.
