New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals registered a remarkable victory over a relentless RCB side. One of the chief architects of Rajasthan’s victory has been the experience off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The 37-year-old off-spinner has played a pivotal role in the middle overs to stem the flow of runs as well as take crucial wickets.


Ashwin ended the eliminator with a spell of 4 overs giving away only 19 runs and taking the wickets of Glenn Maxwell and Cameroon Green. In the end, his side was able to win the contest with 4 wickets and go on to play Qualifiers 2.

“I had an abdomen injury as well…”-Ash

Speaking in the post-match presentation, Ash reckons that he is happy with the fact that his side was able to cross the hurdle and qualify for Qualifiers 2. When asked about personal challenges in this game format, the southpaw quickly acknowledged that it has been really difficult to transition from Test to T20.


Ashwin who was sustaining an abdomen injury earlier has come into the Rajasthan set-up and formed a beautiful pairing with Yuzvendra Chahal. The duo have formed the frontline spin attack for the Royals. Furthermore, Ash quickly acknowledged Trent Boult’s ability, which was a pivotal factor in his side’s success. “We hit the right lengths while bowling and Trent Boult got some swing and seam movement…”


Ashwin also shed some light on his side’s recent form and the absence of key players like Jos Buttler. However, Ashwin is confident that the blend that his side has got in the form of youth and experience added with impact players like Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer will surely help his side to win the finals.

Rajasthan’s fire test against SRH

As Rajasthan leapfrog towards the Qualifiers 2, Rajasthan will be facing a daunting Hyderabad side who are coming after a huge loss against KKR. The match is scheduled to take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium which is the home ground for Ashwin. Naturally, Ashwin’s resurgence and the added advantage of home make the encounter promising for Rajasthan.
