After the end of seven overs during the first inning, the players were accompanied by a snake on the field. Four men from the ground staff arrived at the occasion. One had a snake-catching stick while the other had a pail. The broadcasters shifted the telecast to Rohit Sharma’s sixes while the ground staff cleared the snake from the field. The presence of snake-catching equipment in the stadium showed that the reptiles have hindered the games in the past too.

The drama continued when the South African batting inning was halted due to a power failure. The floodlights suddenly went off and forced the play to stop. The power was restored and the game continued.

Meanwhile, netizens shared hilarious reactions about the snake entering the field.

Some fans compared the snake to Bangladesh’s famous ‘naagin dance’ celebration.

In the game, India posted a massive 237/3 after KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma gave a cracking start, going on to score 57(28) and 43(37) respectively. Suyakumar Yadav was on fire with his 61 off just 22 deliveries while Virat Kohli, 49*(28,) and Dinesh Karthik, 17*(7), finished the inning. Keshav Maharaj was the only South African bowler to bowl an impressive spell to end up with the figures of 23/2.
