New Delhi: Australia beat India by nine wickets in a comfortable chase on day 3 to book their spot in the WTC finals. After India’s collapse in the first inning, Nathan Lyon ensured that the hosts do not set a massive target, while Travis Head and Marnus Labuschange chased 76 to record the comeback win. The 4-match series now stands at 2-1.

As India was defeated miserably, fans remembered the injured Rishabh Pant for his innings against Australia. Pant was one of the primary reasons for India’s victory in Gabba and his attack against spinners was surely missed by the hosts. Some fans also missed MS Dhoni’s captaincy, who did not lose any Test against the Aussies at home, while some shared hilarious memes and clips.

Even Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik missed Pant and shared it on Twitter.

Rohit Sharma sending a message through Ishan Kishan, asking Pujara and Axar Patel to play aggressively also made it to the trends.

In the game, chasing 76 in the fourth inning, Travis Head scored a quickfire 49* off 53 balls along with Marnus Labuschagne’s 28* to win the game. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up Usman Khawaja on the second ball, but the partnership between Head and Labuschagne did the job for Australia.

Nathan Lyon, who picked three wickets in the first inning and eight in the second, was named the Player of the Match.
