New Delhi: The wait for Virat Kohli’s 28th Test century is finally over as he scored one against Australia in the ongoing fourth Test in Ahmedabad. With this, he has answered his critics with centuries across formats after his rough phase. Scoring a patient 241-ball ton, he showed why he is regarded as one of the best in the world and earned appreciation even from the opposition.

As Virat reached his century, the stadium was elated with celebrations and commentator Ravi Shastri exclaimed that a ‘600-kilo gorilla’ is off Virat’s back and the batter has grown a couple of inches taller this evening.

Team India stood up to appreciate the century while Kohli earned applause from the Australian players as well. The video shared by BCCI shows Kohli celebrating his century by kissing his necklace as another centurion from the match, Usman Khawaja and Nathan Lyon can be seen clapping for him.

Not only this, but the cricket fraternity across the globe came forward to appreciate Kohli for his knock. Ian Bishop, Aakash Chopra, Michael Vaughan, everyone came forward to wish Virat for his 75th international century.

He showed character and defense on a pitch that is comfortable to bat on but not easy to play strokes. He took a single off Nathan Lyon’s delivery to complete his century and his knock has been all about running between the wickets and attacking the right balls.

After Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed this morning, the 84-run stand between Kohli and KS Bharat rekindled India. Bharat played a knock of 44(88), which featured two fours and three sixes. He hit Cameron Green’s short balls for maximums, before getting dismissed by Nathan Lyon as Peter Handscomb caught the ball on the short leg.

At Tea, India stands at 472/5 with Virat Kohli having scored 135*(291).
