Ollie Pope with Tom Hartley (34), then added 80 runs for the eighth wicket. England lost the last three wickets for just one run, as Ollie Pope, who was the last man to depart, missed his well-deserved double-century by just four runs.

Pope, in his brilliant 196 runs innings, faced 278 deliveries and scored 21 boundaries.

Before getting dismissed, Pope took England to 420 runs, giving the visitors a huge lead of 230 in the fourth innings to defend.

Jasprit Bumrah was India’s best bowler, with a total of four wickets under his belt, while Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets of his own. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel took two and one wickets each, respectively.
