IND vs SA, Test Series: India defeats South Africa under two days in the second test to level the series 1-1

IND vs SA, Test Series: Mohammed Siraj in first and Jasprit Bumrah in second innings picked up 6 wickets respectively, to break the backbone of South African batting, as India won by 7 wickets.

New Delhi: Indian cricket team, after getting their hopes of winning their first-ever test series win in the Rainbow Nation, has managed to equal their best performance, as they annihilated the South African team in the second match to equal the two-match test series by 1-1.

Star Indian pacers, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were the heroes of the Indian team as they picked six wickets haul in first and second innings, respectively.

Just like the first match of the series, the pacers were the talk of the town as 32 of 33 wickets in the game. One wicket came out as a run-out in the first Innings of Indian batting.

This is the first time the Indian team will walk out of the Rainbow Nation without dropping any series, as they levelled the T20I and Test series 1-1 while winning the ODI series 2-1.

This is also the shortest test match in the history of test cricket, which ended in a win/loss result, as only 107 overs were bowled in the entirety of the match.

As it happened

Earlier, the South African skipper, Dean Elgar, won the toss and opted to bat first.

However, the Proteas captain soon regretted his decision as the Indian pacers destroyed the whole South African batting unit in just 23.2 overs.

South African batting was so helpless as only David Bedingham (12) and Kyle Verreynne (15), were able to touch the double-digit mark as the whole team was packed on just 55 runs.

Md. Siraj was the hero of Indian bowling with his six wicket haul in the first innings.

In reply, India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (0), early in the innings, but Rohit Sharma (39), Shubman Gill (36) and Virat Kohli (46), took India past 150.

However, the South African pacer made a strong comeback and sent the last six batsmen of Indian team back to the pavilion on zero runs, to finish the visitor’s innings on just 153.

Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger, all took three wickets each for South Africa.

In the second innings also Indian pacers were breathing fire, as except Aiden Markram (106), no other Proteas batsmen has the answers for the Indian bowling unit as they finished their second innings on 176, giving the home team a lead of just 78.

Jasprit Bumrah was the hero of Indian bowling in the second innings with his six-wicket haul.

In the 79 runs, although India lost three wickets, they were able to chase down the target with seven wickets to spare in just 12 overs.

Kagiso Rabada, Nandre Burger and Marco Jansen took one wicket each for South Africa in the second innings.
