New Delhi: India restricted the West Indian batters to 118 as Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar shined in the bowling attack. From here on, women in blue will look to score their second victory in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Stefanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle put on a great show with their 73-run stand, but two quick wickets by Deepti helped India bounce back.
Deepti Sharma picked three wickets to go past Poonam Yadav to become India’s highest wicket-taker in the shortest format. She has now picked a total of 100 T20I wickets.

Vastrakar began the second over with a wicket as West Indies suffered an early blow. Taylor and Campbelle took on Rajeshwari Gayakwad in the fifth over and scored 12 off it to lay the foundation of their partnership. Stefanie Taylor looked in good touch and scored 42 off 40 while Shemaine Campbelle scored 30 off 36 before Deepti dismissed both of them in the 14th over.

Returning from injury, Smriti Mandhana took a stunning low catch to dismiss Campbelle and India’s review for lbw helped Deepti dismiss the dangerous batter, Stefanie Taylor. The West Indian batting line-up suffered another blow as Chinnelle Henry got runout after she and Chedean Nation tried to steal a couple of runs off a misfield.

It was Nation scoring 21* off 18, along with Shabika Gajnabi’s 15 off 13 that helped West Indies reach 118/6. Renuka Thakur struck the ball at Gajnabi’s leg stump to pick up a wicket.
India had two changes as Mandhana and Devika Vaidya came back in place of Yastika Bhatia and Harleen Deol. With Mandhana and Shafali opening and having in-form Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur to follow, it might be another comfortable chase for India.
