What happens if the game between India and England is washed out?

Interestingly, the game between India and England does not have any reserve day in place for the semifinals. However, to save the game from getting washed out, the match has been provided with a buffer time of 4 hours to conclude the play.

ICC has made it mandatory for a 10-over contest to register the match as an official match. Anything less than that will be treated as an abandoned match. In case the match is abandoned, the team that finished in a higher position in the group stages will be considered a winner.

Naturally, in case of a washout India will qualify due to a higher finish in the group stages. ICC has gained notoriety for bringing such absurd rules at crucial stages of the tournament. We all have seen the way England won the ODI World Cup back in 2019. Now, a similar situation is in front of us. However, both the skippers will look to have a 40-over contest and win the game fair and square.
