Rohit Sharma went well past Mahela Jayawardene of 111 fours to register the most number of fours in the T20 World Cup.

New Delhi: After overtaking Virat Kohli to become the leading run-scorer in the T20Is for India, skipper Rohit Sharma has reached yet another milestone. Sharma’s firepower and onfield entertainment have not only put India in a commendable position but also put Rohit well past Mahela Jayawardene of 111 fours to register the most number of fours in the T20 World Cup. The 37-year-old achieved this remarkable feat during the over of Adil Rashid when he hit Rashid for a reverse sweep.

Interestingly, Rohit is the second-most prolific six-hitter in the history of the tournament. The Indian skipper is only behind the ‘universe boss’ Chris Gayle in the tally of sixes. On the other hand, in all T20Is Rohit is behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Paul Sterling from Ireland on the list of 4 hitters.

  2. Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka) – 111 fours in 31 innings
  3. Virat Kohli (India) – 105 fours in 32 innings
