New Delhi: International hockey returns after a long break of 10 years as team India seeks to redeem itself from the 3-2 semifinal loss against Germany. Germany had defeated India 3-2 in the Paris 2024 Olympics semi-finals and had won the FIH Hockey World Cup in India last year. Subsequently, the Germans (FIH rank 2) settled for the silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 after losing to the Dutch team in the penalty shootout.
Meanwhile, the Indian team is coming after winning the Asian Champions Trophy where they defeated hosts China in the finals. Earlier, the men in blue (FIH rank 5) clinched back-to-back Olympic bronze defeating Spain 2-1 in the third place match.
