India vs USA: Can the American cowboys pass the “litmus test” of Rohit and Co.?

The United States will be taking on the men in blue in their next group stage match of Group A at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium.

New Delhi: A team of ex-Indian and ex-Pakistani players alongside some flare from Barbadian spice has managed to rattle the cage of both Pakistan and Canada to carry on a memorable “American” dream. Can these American cowboys overcome a stiff challenge from the No. 1 team of the T20 to qualify for the Super 8s?

For many USA cricketers like Saurabh Netravalkar, Harmeet Singh, Nitish Kumar and Monank Patel, it will be a “deja vu” moment as they take on their country of birth. India on the other hand, would like to continue their high-risk approach. The men in blue won’t take any opposition lightly and will look to kill the game.

One of the brooding problems will be the failure of India’s talisman Virat Kohli as an opener. The Indian batsman has failed on both occasions- against Ireland as well as against Pakistan. Another glaring problem in the match against Pakistan was a jittery middle order. However, Dravid and co. would like to shun the problem as only a seasonal bloom and will expect a solid performance from the middle order against the USA.

Netravalkar’s rendezvous with Suryakumar Yadav!

It will be an emotional moment to play against India and especially Surya as we go back a long way,” remarked Saurabh Netravalkar who will be having an emotional rendezvous with his former teammate Suryakumar Yadav. Netravalkar, a software engineer at Oracle and a part-time cricket player has been grabbing the headlines after delivering the most memorable spell of his cricketing career against Pakistan.

Surya and Saurabh have quite a memorable past, the former being the teammate of the latter in Mumbai U-15, Ranji and Vijay Hazare Trophy. On the other hand, for spinners Harmeet Singh and Kenjige, tackling the witty Rishabh Pant and the brute force of Hardik Pandya will be tough.

The odds are heavily in favour of India. If the USA cricket team bats, experts believe that against a fearsome pace attack of Bumrah, Siraj and Arshdeep the Americans don’t even stand a chance to score the three-figure mark. But if India are to bat first, who knows things can get a bit spicy for the men in blue! So, can the Cowboys repeat their performances once again?

India and USA: Probable XI
