Indian men’s cricket team becomes number 1 in all 3 formats, Ashwin-Jadeja earn ranking boost

Winning the Nagpur Test against Australia helped India to gain the number 1 spot ahead of Australia. In player rankings, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja gained spots among the bowlers. Ashwin is just behind the Australian captain Pat Cummins and picking up eight wickets in the first Test helped him gain rating points to come closer to the Australian pacer. Player of the Match in the Nagpur Test, Ravindra Jadeja showed a brilliant performance with both bat and ball after returning from knee surgery. He picked up a total of seven wickets and scored 70 runs and stands at 16th spot among the bowlers.

In the men’s all-rounder rankings, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin stand in the top two spots respectively, while Axar Patel is in the seventh position.

On the other hand, West Indian captain Kraigg Braithwaite fell four spots to the 21st rank and Zimbabwean batter Craig Ervine jumped 15 spots. Zimbabwe managed to draw the first Test against West Indies, courtesy of Garry Ballance’s century and lost the second by an inning and four runs with Guadakesh Motie picking 13 wickets.
