India’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra performs Garba in Vadodara…WATCH

New Delhi: Olympic gold medallist and India’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra participated in a Garba event in Vadodara on September 28. He is in the city for the grand opening ceremony of the 36th National Games. He took some time out of his schedule to celebrate Navratri in Gujarati style and dance to Garba music.

Neeraj was seen wearing a colourful traditional jacket. He also offered aarti to the Goddess and went on to dance to the Garba beats. Thousands of people were present to celebrate Navratri there, while a few got a chance to dance with the Diamond League champion. Neeraj also got onto the stage and engaged with the crowd, who was chanting “Garam garam seera Neeraj humara heera (Seera is hot and Neeraj is our diamond).”

The videos were shared on the media account of the Sports Authority of India. People were delighted to have the World Championship silver medallist among them.

Meanwhile, Neeraj Chopra will not be participating in the National Games this year. He suffered from an injury and missed the Commonwealth Games, though he made a comeback in the Diamond League finals, he certainly does not want to force his body onto the field. In his last outing, he threw the javelin at a distance of 88.44 m to win the Diamond League finals trophy. After an Olympic gold and World Championships silver, Neeraj added another feather to his hat. He also announced that the finals in Zurich is his last outing this season and he is looking forward to performing well next year also.
