
New Delhi: India’s no. 1 paddler won her first game against Christina Kallberg in the Paris Olympics 2024 to advance to the Round of 32. It was a walk in the park for the young paddler who has become one of the popular names in the Indian Table Tennis circle.

Kallberg came out with attacking intent and was rather relentless with her approach. However, the backhand defence and front-hand attack shots kept things simple for herself. Earlier, Sreeja had scripted history to become the first paddler to win the WTT Contender singles title.

Akula who is India’s number 1 paddler won an easy game against the Swedish paddler to wrap up the game in 28 minutes! The final scoreline was 11-4, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8 to complete the whitewash inside 4 sets.

Sreeja will face her next opponent in the Round of 32 on the 30th of July. The Indian paddler started things in style before being stretched in the second set. Things got spiced up in the third set as the Swedish paddler went neck-to-neck to take a 9-3 lead. But a few good shots from Akula turned things in favour of Sreeja. Eventually, it was an eventuality for the paddler to kill the game.
