INDW vs AUSW, Test Match: Tahlia McGrath and Ellyse Perry lead Australia back into the game

As things stand, the match is heading towards a draw, as it will take a miracle for both teams to come out victorious on the final day.

New Delhi: The Indian women’s cricket team, after dominating the first two days of the one-off test match against the Australian women’s team, has found themselves on the backseat, as the Aussies made a strong comeback on day 3.

India’s dream of defeating England and Australia, in back-to-back test matches within the span of 7 days, has taken a huge hit, after Tahlia McGrath and Ellyse Perry led the recovery of the Aussies on the penultimate day of the test match.

Day 3 Summary

India started the day with their third-day total of 376 for 7, while leading the Australian women’s team by 157 runs in the first innings total of the Aussies.

Pooja Vastrakar (47), was the first batter to depart on day 3, after adding 14 more runs in her individual score.

Deepti Sharma (78), also departed soon enough after adding just eight more runs in her last day’s total.

Renuka Singh (8), was the final Indian batter to depart on day 3, as she was dismissed by Annabel Sutherland, to finish the Indian innings on 406, with a total lead of 187 runs lead in their bank.

Ashleigh Gardner was the most successful Aussie bowler in the first innings, with four wickets under her name.

Australia started their second innings strongly by adding 49 runs for the first wicket, but India made a comeback with two quick wickets after dismissing Beth Mooney (33) and Phoebe Litchfield (18), in the span of 12 deliveries.

India almost got their third wicket, in the form of Ellyse Perry, but Richa was unable to hold on to the catch and gave Perry a lifeline. India also gave Tahlia McGrath, a lifeline in the 28.2 overs.

Tahlia McGrath (73) and Ellyse Perry (45), went on to add 84 runs for the third wicket and giving the Aussie women a passage back into the match.

Australia finished day three with 233 for five on the board and a lead of 46 runs in their bank.

Australian skipper won the toss and opted to bat first, but India, with the help of Pooja Vastrakar (4 wickets) and Sneh Rana (3 wickets), were able to stop the Aussie inning on just 219 runs.

Tahlia McGrath was the top scorer for Aussies with her 50 runs innings.

India in relied strongly by adding 376 runs for seven wickets, giving the Indian team 157 runs lead by the end of day 2.

Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma all scored, in the fifties to help India take the lead over the Aussies.
