IOA and Kho Kho Federation of India join hands to host maiden Kho Kho World Cup

New Delhi: To boost the local sporting culture of India, the Indian Olympic Association and the Kho Kho Federation of India have joined hands to host the maiden Kho Kho World Cup in 2025.

In a statement to KKFI President Sudhanshu Mittal, IOA President PT Usha expressed the association’s strong commitment to elevating indigenous sports like Kho Kho. The IOA has vowed to provide comprehensive support to enhance the tournament’s visibility, ensuring maximum outreach and success.

According to the latest press release from KKFI, PT Usha, the President of IOA revealed:

With such a multi-national tournament set to take place in India, the authorities will look to transform the scenario of Kho Kho in India like they have been managed to do it in Kabbadi.

When is the Kho Kho World Cup 2025?

The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 is set to take place between January 13th to January 19th at the iconic IGI Stadium in New Delhi.

How many teams will feature in the Kho Kho World Cup 2025?

The Kho Kho World Cup will feature both men’s and women’s teams with a stunning 24 countries from six continents set to compete. Teams from Asia, including hosts India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, will face off alongside competitors from Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania.

Nations like Ghana, Kenya, England, Germany, Brazil and Australia will be among the participants, highlighting the growing global appeal of Kho Kho, the release said.
