IPL 2022: Yuzvendra Chahal engages in heated argument with on-field umpire; loses his calm

New Delhi: Known to be a player of calm nature, Yuzvendra Chahal showed his other side on Sunday during the encounter between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. The leg spinner, though finished the match with four wickets in hand, was caught in an argument with the on-field umpire after the latter’s decision was not pleasing to Chahal.

The incident took place in the fifth delivery of the 18th over with Rajasthan Royals fielding. The delivery by Chahal was regarded as wide by the on-field umpire. However, the TV replay showed that the ball was marginally inside the line. Both Chahal and skipper Sanju Samson were not happy with the decision.

Although Chahal had to deliver the extra ball, it went in his favour as he knocked Dushmantha Chameera LBW on 13 off 7 balls. 

Chahal emerged as the game-changer for Rajasthan Royals as we took four wickets and conceded 41 runs in his four-over quota. Apart from Chameera, he took the wickets of Quinton de Kock, Ayush Badoni, and Krunal Pandya.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royal won the game by three runs. Rajasthan Royals put up a score of 165/6 while Lucknow managed to score 162/8. This helped Rajasthan Royals to climb the points table. 

Moreover, Chahal overtook Umesh Yadav in terms of leading wicket-takers in IPL 2022 to date. Chahal has 11 wickets for four matches to his name.
