Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant met with a road accident that led him to undergo major surgeries and has been missing cricketing action since then. There were a lot of speculations around the next captain for DC, but now the reports suggest it will be the Australian opener Warner. Many cricket pundits expected Warner to be the next captain while there were some who did not agree due to his captaincy for his national side still not being approved.
Axar Patel, who has now been an integral part of the DC setup is set to be the vice-captain. Having played a lot of cricket for India, especially at home, the player can be seen in a leadership role for his franchise.
Warner, who is playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India, is suffering from a hairline fracture on his elbow. However, he will be available for the ODI series against India.
South African batter Markram recently led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the inaugural SA20 title and was the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament. He has replaced Kane Williamson as the new captain of SRH.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mayank Agrawal were being considered as other contenders for the role, but the management trusted Aiden Markram as he proved it in SA20.
