IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals players’ 16 bats, gear go missing in transit

They lost a total of 16 bats, out of which three belonged to skipper David Warner, five to Yash Dhull, three to Phil Salt, and two to Mitchell Marsh.

New Delhi: The problems are not settling down for Delhi Capitals. After losing five games in a row, the players reportedly, lost their kits after they returned to Delhi from Bengaluru. According to a report in the Indian Express, several DC players’ bats and other equipment went missing during the transit.

They lost a total of 16 bats, out of which three belonged to skipper David Warner, five to Yash Dhull, three to Phil Salt, and two to Mitchell Marsh. Other equipment like shoes, pads, thigh pads and gloves, were also missing.

The players found out about their missing bats and gear after they flew back to Delhi on April 16, when their kit bags were delivered to their hotel rooms. The franchise has hired a logistics company to assist in the transport of kits from one venue to another.

The team officials said that the players were shocked after hearing the news. They added that this was the first time such an incident has occurred. The matter has been raised to the logistics department, police, and the airport and the investigation is on.

Delhi Capitals lost their last game to RCB by 23 runs after Virat Kohli scored a fifty and the pacers restricted DC to 151/9. Youngster Vijaykumar Vyshak picked three wickets, Mohammed Siraj got two while Wayne Parnell, Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga got one each. Manish Pandey scored a fifty for DC and Aman Hakim Khan and Anrich Nortje tried some power-hitting but could not chase 175.

DC is currently at the bottom of the points table and is yet to open its account of victories this season. The team will next play KKR on April 20 in home conditions.
