IPL 2023 GT vs MI Preview: Who will win battle between MI’s batters, GT’s bowlers to play finals against CSK?

GT would like to improve on their decisions of playing XI and batting order while MI has the momentum as their batters are blazing fire.

New Delhi: Defending champions and table toppers Gujarat Titans were beaten by Chennai Super Kings but they get a chance for redemption against Mumbai Indians in Qualifiers 2. GT would like to improve on their decisions of playing XI and batting order while MI has the momentum as their batters are blazing fire. MI produced a complete performance and Akash Madhwal’s five-wicket haul was the highlight of the show.

MI beat LSG by 81 runs and gained stability at the right stage of the tournament. Meanwhile, GT has the likes of Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami, and Rashid Khan who will look to take GT to the finals against CSK.

Titans played Darshan Nalkande in Qualifiers 1 in place of Yash Dayal, and the seamer went for a whopping 44/1. Sending in-form Vijay Shankar down the order would be a decision skipper Hardik Pandya would be regretting in hindsight. GT has been the most balanced side in the last two seasons and getting their best XI on the field with a few right calls here and there, they can make it to their second finals.

Shubman Gill scored 722 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 149.17 but his 42 off 38 against CSK was unlikely to his character this season. Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan have the top two spots in the race for the purple cap and GT would want their ace bowlers to step up against MI’s good batting line-up.

Titans’ bowlers have been the most consistent this season and with Mohit Sharma’s return to the attack, they have got another bullet in the gun. They still have Pandya, Shankar, and Shanaka as bowling options which have gone underused throughout.

With Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav in great form, MI batters have got great support from youngster Nehal Wadhera, who finishes the inning in style. Wadhera scored a crucial 23 off 12 against LSG and will pose questions for GT’s death bowling in the game. While MI has one the best batting line-ups, openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have not been consistent enough and can be the weaker links in the powerplay.

Piyush Chawla has been MI’s lead bowler with 21 wickets in 15 games and Akash Madhwal has picked 13 scalps in seven innings out of which nine came in the last two games. The young pacer has stepped up to the ocassion and has been a great aid to Jason Behrendorff and Chris Jordan.

Conclusion

GT vs MI will be a clash to look out for and the Titans, who were beaten by MI in their last encounter, would love to enter the finals. Fans have a chance to witness yet another IPL Final between the most successful franchises CSK and MI. GT will have a home advantage while the momentum is with MI.
