IPL 2023: Jaydev Unadkat ruled out of remainder of season, set to visit NCA to recover for WTC final

LSG management has decided to release him as the pacer is a part of the Indian squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final to be played from June 7 onwards.

New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants’ pacer Jaydev Unadkat has been ruled out of IPL 2023 after picking up an injury in his left shoulder during a net session. LSG management has decided to release him as the pacer is a part of the Indian squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final to be played from June 7 onwards.

As per the report by ESPNCricinfo, Unadkat is likely to get fit for the WTC final and will be available to travel with the team. He travelled to Mumbai for medical scans and visited one of the specialist consultants of the BCCI.

While bowling in nets on April 30, his left foot got stuck in a rope and he had a fall on his bowling elbow. He clutched his left shoulder and was seen with an ice pack on his shoulder. BCCI recommended LSG to release Unadkat and he is likely to visit NCA, Bengaluru for rehab.

The franchise’s problems rose when the captain KL Rahul, got injured during the game against RCB. Rahul is also a part of India’s WTC final squad as a backup wicketkeeper and opening batter.

Unadkat has been out of rhythm this IPL season as he had gone wicketless in the three games and gave away 92 runs in the eight overs he has bowled. While T20 is not his format of expertise, after his cracking performance with the red ball in the domestic circuit, he got a call for India’s Test team. With seaming options required at The Oval, England, he is a crucial part of the pace attack along with Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur.
