IPL 2023 LSG vs SRH: Teams look to bounce back as Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock & others join squads

Both teams will have their South African players returning after the series against the Netherlands and most importantly, SRH will have their new captain Aiden Markram to lead the side.

New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants are set to play their third game of IPL 2023 as they face Sunrisers Hyderabad at home. Both teams will have their South African players returning after the series against the Netherlands and most importantly, SRH will have their new captain Aiden Markram to lead the side. LSG will have their marquee player Quinton de Kock while SRH will have Henrich Klaasen and Marco Jensen.

Kyle Mayers has scored 73 off 38 against DC and 53 off 22 against CSK to prove that he is there to win games for LSG. With de Kock’s return, it is a good headache for the team to have as he was the one who used to open with skipper KL Rahul. With Nicholas Pooran in form, de Kock is likely to replace Marcus Stoinis in the team and they will expect Mayers to bowl a bit.

LSG has scored big in both games and looks to have a formidable batting line-up. For the bowling attack, the team depends on Mark Wood’s express pace and Ravi Bishnoi for picking up wickets. While Wood has picked wickets, he went for a few runs in the last game. Bishnoi on the other hand has been bowling brilliantly and has been picking wickets regularly.

SRH began its campaign poorly against Rajasthan Royals as they lost by 72 runs. Stand-in captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar probably took too much pressure and even went for runs in his bowling. However, the batting department was more concerning as they collapsed in front of Trent Boult and Chahal. While Markram may strengthen the top order, they would want in-form Klaasen to play in place of Glenn Phillips.

While bowling, SRH was not econimical, however, T Natarajan and Fazhalhaq Farooqi picked a couple of wickets each and showed their worth. The team should look to invest in the young pace attack led by experienced Kumar as they have express pace and quality bowling.

Prediction

LSG will have the home advantage and their batting line-up makes them one of the stronger sides in the tournament. SRH will have to look out for Wood and Bishnoi to avoid yet another collapse.

The match will begin at 7:30 pm at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.
