New Delhi: Bollywood’s best friend & social media figure Orry aka Orhan Awatramani and renowned stand-up comedian Munnawar Faruqui graced the IPL 2024’s high-octane opening showdown between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore In Chennai’s check stadium yesterday.
While Munnawar shared a seat in the commentary box with former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan, Orry was seen having a fun conversation with legendary ex-cricketers Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina.
After the match, in which host & defending champions CSK walked over Faf’s RCB with an easy 6-wicket triumph, numerous pics and videos of Orry and Munawar having fun with reputed former cricketers started circulating on the internet.
While the two internet icon’s unexpected entry in the IPL 2024 commentary box surprised many, others were simply not happy seeing them sharing screens with veteran Indian cricketers.

Taking to the comment section, many users cited that neither Orry nor Munawar is related to cricket by any chance & were only invited to the match for the sake of TRP and publicity.
A section of X users even claimed that BCCI brought the two in the IPL 2024 opener due to their massive fan following but the presence of such people might ruin the league for true cricket lovers.
“It was cringe to see Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan share the stage with Orry and Munawwar Farooqui”, wrote one user. A second one added, “Munawar in commentary box Orry in pre-match show Anurag with Raina in pre-match Bhai IPL ko kyu barbed kr diye.”
Another comment read, “I don’t understand what was the need to get Munawar and Orry for commentary. Like what’s the need? It’s not like cricket is dying in India.”

Notably, Orry, who often makes headlines for his mysterious appearance with several Bollywood actors & actresses at film events, has never said anything related to sports in the past and is far away from cricket as well. However, Munawar, on the other hand, recently participated in the Indian Street Premier League where he shocked everyone by claiming the wicket of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
