IPL Auction 2023: Pandya’s homecoming, Curran & Brooks up for grabs? How rumour mills are buzzing!

According to multiple sources Hardik Pandya is all but set for his homecoming at MI.

New Delhi: India’s biggest cricket carnival is back once again with its auction for season 17.

All the teams have been asked to submit their final player’s retention list by November 26, evening 4:00 p.m. IST.

With the deadline nearing its end, the rumour mill of the IPL is creating some serious buzz with its mouth-watering rumours.

From captaincy swaps to direct player’s trades, the internet is full of updates, that are welcomed by some and loathed by some.

Let’s take a look at some of the top rumours making its rounds on the internet.

Hardik’s homecoming

The biggest talk of the town for the last couple of days is Hardik Pandya’s possible homecoming to Mumbai Indians.

Hardik Pandya who debuted for Mumbai Indians in 2015, stayed there for 7 years and was part of their 4 IPL trophy-winning teams.

However, he decided to leave the team in 2021, to take on the duties of captain in the newly introduced Gujrat Titans franchise. Under his captaincy Gujrat played back-to-back finals and even managed to win their first title in their first season in the tournament, before losing their second finals against CSK.

Now the rumours have it that Hardik Pandya is on his way back to Mumbai Indians. Initially, it was rumoured that he would be part of a direct player swap with either Rohit Sharma or Jofra Archer being involved, but according to the latest reports, Gujrat will be taking RS 15 crore in cash in a one-sided deal.

However, since none of the involved parties has given any actual updates on these rumours, which means the fans have to wait till Sunday evening to get the final confirmation.

Big-money players to be released

Players who went for big money last season are likely to be released due to their under-par performances last season.

The list includes the likes of Harry Brooke, Cameroon Green, Sam Curran and Jofra Archer.

These players despite going for big bucks failed to live up to their expectations and now can get released to generate extra cash for their respective teams.

Confirmed updates

Amidst all the rumours there has been some news that has been authenticated by the officials.

Ben Stokes, opting out from IPL 2024, is one of the news. Stokes was bought by CSK for a whopping 16.25 crore, but the all-rounder only played two matches and made 15 runs for them.

Stokes opting out CSK will be heading into the Auction with 25+ crore in their bag.

Romario Shepard was the first player to be traded this season, he was part of a one-way deal between LSG and MI, with later acquiring his services for RS 50 lakhs.

Davdutt Paddikal and Avesh Khan, have also switched teams from RR to LSG, in a direct player’s swap.
