IPL Auction 2024: Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins becomes the most expensive player in IPL history with 24.75 and 20.50 crore price tag respectively

Harshal Patel most expensive Indian, Sameer Rizvi most expensive uncapped player

New Delhi: The auction for the 17th season of Indiaโ€™s biggest cricket carnival, i.e., Indian Premier League (IPL), took place in Dubaiโ€™s Coca-Cola Arena, on Tuesday.

Australian players took centre stage as they broke the 20-crore mark twice, and Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player in the history of IPL with a 24.75 crore price tag after Pat Cummins held the crown first in the same day with a 20.50 crore price tag earlier.

Harshal Patel became the most expensive Indian player with 11.75 crore in his bank, while Sameer Rizvi became the most expensive uncapped player with an 8.40 crore price tag.

BCCI shortlisted a total of 333 players for the 77 open slots, out of which 47 slots are reserved for Indian players, while 30 spots are open for overseas players.

All ten franchises were done with their final retention and first session of the trade window by November 26, as the first trading window closed down on December 12, while the next window will open on December 20, a day after the auction.

A number of star players are set to go under the hammer, including the ICC World Cup 2023 heroes Travis Head, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Gerald Coetzee, Keshav Maharaj, and many more.

Many Indian veteran IPL players are also set to be under the hammer, which includes Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Harshal Patel and Manish Pandey.

Out of the ten franchises, Kolkata Knight Riders need the most number of players, i.e., 12, Followed up by Delhi Capitals who need nine players. There are four teams that need eight players, while four teams require six players, to complete their complete 25 players set.
