New Delhi: The cricketing structure in India seems to get a major makeup in the coming months. After head coach Gautam Gambhir took over the coaching responsibilities from Rahul Dravid, it appears his partner in crime during his playing days, VVS Laxman is also looking to retire from the National Cricket Academy. The National Cricket Academy which has been the engine room for the Indian Cricket team has been detrimental to the quick rehabilitation of injured cricketers. https://twitter.com/mufaddal_vohra/status/1814863961927336292 Occasionally, the NCA head also accompanies the national team when the Head Coach is on leave due to some unforced situations. Moreover, the NCA has also reportedly held many important camps to look for young and prodigal cricketing talents in the country. https://twitter.com/thecricketgully/status/1814887025129996539 Earlier VVS Laxman was the chief of the NCA from November 2021. Laxman had replaced Dravid in the role of NCA chief. However, now Laxman also seems adamant about leaving his role as chief of NCA. Why is VVS Laxman adamant about leaving his duties in NCA? The reports of Laxman's departure from the NCA post were first made public by the Times of India. In the report, the TOI was also quoted as saying that Laxman has decided to take on the responsibility of the IPL side Lucknow Super Giants. Moreover, if reports are believed to be true, Vikram Rathour who was a member of the support staff of the 2024 T20 World Cup will most likely succeed Laxman. The report of Sports Tak read "It is very likely that you may see Rathour heading NCA. For now, a call on VVS Laxman's contract renewal..." affirmed the above reports. https://twitter.com/CultOfIndia/status/1814864565039136817 Interestingly, this is not the first time that Laxman has taken charge of an IPL team. He was previously tasked with leading his home-based IPL franchise, the Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2013 to 2021 winning the IPL trophy in 2016. Naturally, with immense experience at his disposal, Laxman's first task is to solve the mess gripping LSG.
