New Delhi: The Isle of Man created a new record for the lowest-ever score in men’s T20s as they got all out for just 10 against Spain. While Spain’s Mohammad Kamran and Atif Mehmood picked four wickets each, four was also the highest individual score for the Isle of Man. The chase ended in just two balls as Spain recorded a clinical win.
The Isle of Man lost the 6-match T20I series with a margin of 5-0 and the last loss was rather humiliating. The inning began with Kamran dismissing Adam McAuley on the first ball and Mehmood trapped George Burrows lbw in the second over and both the openers were back in the dugout.
The third over witnessed a hattrick by Mohammad Kamran as he hit the stumps twice and picked one lbw. Joseph Burrows was the highest scorer for the Isle of Man with 4 off 7 before Mehmood dismantled the middle order.
The last two wickets were picked by Lorne Burns as he restricted the visitors to 10 in the ninth over.
The second inning began with a no-ball and lasted just two balls as Awais Ahmed smashed the ball out of the park for two consecutive sixes and finished the game. Atif Mehmood was given the Player of the Match award for his 6/4.
Though the Isle of Man lost five of their games, one ended in no result, the team was able to put up 96, 66, 116 and 132 before this disastrous collapse. Meanwhile, it brought attention to the teams who would have not made it to the headlines if any such record was not been made.
Before them, the record was held by Sydney Thunder, who managed just 15 runs against Adelaide Strikers in the BBL this year. In the international arena, Turkey got all out for 21 against the Czech Republic in 2019.
