‘It’s been years…’: Andre Russell rejoices as KKR plays first home game in IPL 2023 (VIDEO)

As IPL returns back to home and away format post-Covid-19, Dre Russ expressed his excitement to play before Kolkata’s crowd after years.

New Delhi: Power-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell is all set to face RCB at Eden Gardens in KKR’s first home game this season. As IPL returns back to home and away format post-Covid-19, Dre Russ expressed his excitement to play before Kolkata’s crowd after years. The West Indian cricketer hopes to win the first home game in IPL 2023.

Talking about returning back to Eden Gardens, Russell said that he tries to do his best when he represents KKR but playing at the home ground is special and the cheer on every boundary and wicket has inspired players. He noted that a good start and winning the most number of games in the first phase is important for their side, so they have to not face pressure in the end.

Russell said that if things go wrong and their qualification depends on other teams, then they all will sit together and watch the games. He stated that going to the playoffs is the first goal he has in mind.

Andre Russell has mesmerising stats at Eden Gardens, especially against RCB. RCB is the opposition he has scored the most against and he also has the highest strike rate and average against them. In his last four games against RCB in home conditions, he scored 41*(17), 39*(19), 15(11) and 65(25). Who can forget his home inning against RCB back in 2019 when he came on the crease with KKR needing 52 off 16 balls and he chased it down with 5 balls left?

While KKR started with a loss against PBKS due to the DLS method, Russell scored 35 off 19 to show that he is in form.

KKR will play RCB at Eden Gardens on April 6 at 7:30 pm.
