Jasprit Bumrah reprimanded by ICC for pushing Ollie Pope, netizens react

The Indian pacer has been punished by ICC for breaching ICC Code of Conduct during the first test match in Hyderabad.

New Delhi: The bad news keeps pouring in for the men in blue, as according to the latest the latest reports, ICC has reprimanded the start Indian pacer and test vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah for breaching the ICC code of conduct during the first test match against England in Hyderabad.

The incident in question took place during over number 81 of the second Innings of the English team when the Indian pacer seemingly came into the running line of the English batter Ollie Pope, who played a brilliant 196 runs inning to take his team from 190 runs behind in the first innings total of India to a match-winning 230 runs in the lead.

In the video, Bumrah can be clearly seen getting into the running line of Ollie Pope intentionally.

The ICC has handed Jasprit Bumrah one demerit point for his offensive actions against the English batter.

Notably, Bumrah has only been handed a demerit point but not fined by ICC, as this is the first offence by the Indian pacer in the 24-month time period set by the cricket’s apex governing body.

Complaint filed by on-field umpires

The official complaint against Bumrah was filed by the on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, while the third and fourth umpires, Marais Erasmus and Rohan Pandit, also agreed to the opinion of the other two umpires.

Notably, the Indian pacer pleaded guilty to the incident, leading to no formal hearing, as the direct official verdict was given.
