
New Delhi: Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has made revelations that he has been reduced to a rubber stamp within the Pakistan cricket team. The former Australian cricketer feels that such a move on the part of the PCB which had agreed to give a free hand to take decisions.
Both Gillespie and Test skipper Shan Masood will no longer have a say in selection policies and they were informed of the call by a Pakistan Cricket Board official after the first Test against England at Multan.
Speaking about the breach of trust, Gillespie remarked:
I’m now just the coach for match day strategy. So, I keep out of things now and just focus on the players and getting them ready for cricket…
The former Australian pacer made it clear that his focus was now on the players and leaving selection matters to the newly appointed committee.

Meanwhile, an anonymous PCB source revealed that both Gillespie and Masood will have a chat with the board officials after the third Test against England. The discussion between both sides is not clear so far. However, it is believed that both Gillespie and Masood will meet to discuss the unnecessary restrictions put on the working of both the coach and the captain.
Gillespie also did not want to dwindle in the internal functioning of the remarked:
Look, it’s not for me to talk about now. I am not a selector. I am a match day strategist as head coach, and I’m all about the players. My focus is on them….
