New Delhi: Lakshya Sen defeated Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei to qualify for the semifinals of the Men’s singles of the Paris Olympics 2024. In the process, Lakshya also became the first male badminton player from India to qualify for the semifinals of any Olympics at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Chou had a historical advantage on the Indian shuttler as he had a 3-1 head-to-head record over Sen. But Sen managed to shrug off this record to win the quarterfinal match.

Losing the first set 19-21, Sen made a sensational comeback to win the second and the third games- 21-15 and 21-12. Sen who is playing in his maiden Olympic Games, has managed to shake off one shuttler after another.

Earlier, Sen defeated his fellow compatriot shuttler HS Prannoy in the round of 16. In the round of 32, Lakshya defeated Jonatan Christie who was the defending champion of the All-England Open 2024.
