Lamine Yamal scripts history in semifinals against France as he became…

Lamine Yamal has become the youngest player to score in Euros during the semifinals in a 2-1 win over France.

New Delhi: Lamine Yamal, the wonder kid of Barcelona has scripted history as he becomes the youngest player to score in UEFA Euro. At the age of 16, this young Catalonian prodigy hit a perfect curling goal against French goalkeeper Mike Maignan who has been on his toes throughout the tournament.

France vs Spain was always supposed to be pulsating semifinals. Naturally, there was an expectation that some fine football would be on display. The fans were not disappointed as 8 minutes into the game, Randal Kolo Muani hit a perfect header to take the 1-0. Contrary to the tournament form of Les Bleus, the French team played in an all-out attack formation.

After trailing behind in the opening minutes, it would have required something special from Spain to come back into the game. In that hour of reckoning, Yamal equalised. Lamine who turns 17 one day before the finals on Sunday has been touted as one of the best prodigal talents to ever play for Spain. Experts have already started drawing parallels between Yamal and another legend of Barcelona, Lionel Messi.

It is too early to compare the stature of Yamal and Messi, but the hit from Yamal has sent some serious ripples in the footballing world. Nevertheless, watch out for this young talent in the coming years!

France’s “attacking” style of play!

On a night full of surprises, the French team pulled one or two of their own. A team which has been ripped apart and dissected for playing ‘ultra-defensive’ football stepped up and played some of the best-attacking football which was missing till now.

In such an important match, French coach Didier Deschamp made the unprecedented change of dropping Griezmann to the bench and bringing back Dembele to make an attacking front 3. This was a surprise move from the French coach as it seemed that he had shunned away the attacking style of play.

However, these tactical twerks also could not save the Les Bleus from crashing out of the Euros. Were these tactical tweaks a little too late for Mbappe and Co.?
