India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test: Langurs hired ahead of Kanpur Test to stop “Food Snatching” by monkeys

In a bizarre decision taken by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, authorities have langurs and their handlers to solve the problem of food snatching by the monkeys ahead of the India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test.

New Delhi: In a bizarre decision taken by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, the authorities have langurs and their handlers to solve the problem of food snatching by the monkeys. Green Park Stadium which is the venue for the second test of India vs Bangladesh has a history of food snatching by the monkeys.

Venue director Sanjay Kapoor feared that more than the food snatching, broadcast cameras which are very expensive and can be damaged in the scuffle with the monkeys. To mitigate the problem, Kapoor remarked-

To avoid the terror of monkeys, we have langurs (long-tailed leaf monkeys) to take care of them…

Interestingly, this is not the first time that the services of the langurs have been taken in international cricket. Meanwhile, to save the costly broadcasting equipment other measures have also been taken by the authorities. A raised stand just beyond the boundary line used by the television crew to place the camera at the stadium and record the match was covered with black cloth at the back and on either side to reduce the chances of monkeys getting access to eatables.

‘Balcony C’ closed!

Meanwhile, the Balcony C of the Green Park stadium has been declared dangerous by the PWD due to some minor structural problems which can turn out to be a safety issue for the fans. The decision was taken after a thorough investigation of the Balcony C by the PWD.

It was reported that the stand is so feeble that it is speculated that it will not be able to withstand even the minutest of excitement from the fans generated from seeing their stars on the infrastructure.
