New Delhi: Legends League Cricket, season 2, is now nearing its business end, with all six teams well within the range of qualifying for the next stage, the race ever so intense.
On Monday, Manipal Tigers took on the Southern Super Giants, in match 9 of the season at the Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu.
After winning the toss, Manipal Tigers’ skipper Harbhajan Singh won the toss and opted to bat first.
The start was not great for the Tigers as they lost, their first 3 wickets before the 50 runs mark. Hamilton Masakadza (26) and Angelo Perera (47*), tried to revive the innings, but with a series of late strikes, Super Stars were able to stop the Tigers on a sub-par total of 124 for 9.
In bowling, it was a collective effort from the Southern Super Stars, as Johan Botha, Pawan Negi and Abdur Razzak, took 2 wickets each, while, Ashok Dinda and Chaturanga de Silva, took one wicket each.
In reply, Southern Super Stars, started their chase in a commanding fashion, with Jesse Ryder (30) and Upul Tharanga (30), adding 60 runs for the first wickets.

However, the Tigers pulled back the game by restricting the run flow and taking wickets, but in the end, Shreevats Goswami (19*) and Pawan Negi (25*), held their nerves, to take their team home and registered their first win of the season.

Manipal Tigers despite the loss are still at the top of the table, while Southern Super Stars have received a new lifeline in the tournament.
