MI Cape Town signs five marquee players for CSA T20 League, Jos Buttler & Liam Livingstone in top salary bracket

MI Cape Town had signed Kagiso Rabada, Dewald Brevis, Rashid Khan, Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone.

New Delhi: Reliance Industries have announced five players signed for their new team MI Cape Town. The line-up includes two players from South Africa, two from England and one from Afghanistan. MI Cape Town had signed Kagiso Rabada, Dewald Brevis, Rashid Khan, Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone.

MI has taken five marquee players as Kagiso Rabada is South Africa’s ace pacer, and Dewald Brevis, known as Junior ABD recently shined in the U-19 World Cup. While everybody is aware of Rashid Khan’s heroics not just with the ball but with the bat too, Sam Curran is one of the strongest power hitters in the T20s and Liam Livingstone has proved himself time and again in the format.

In the upcoming Cricket South Africa T20 league, a total of 30 players have been signed by the six teams. English power hitters Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone are reported to be in the top salary bracket and are expected to earn USD 5,00,000 each. According to the reports, each team has a USD 2 million in its purse and is allowed to spend a maximum of USD 2,50,000 on each player.

A total of 11 English players, six West Indians, and 10 Sri Lankan players have been signed as part of the 30 marquee players. However, as the league has its ties with the Indian Premier League so no Pakistani players have been signed up for CSA T20 League.

Reportedly, each team will have a pool of 17 players and they can sign five players, including three overseas players, one international South African, and one uncapped South African, all before the auction. The rest of the players can be signed during the auction for the league.

The league will be played in January and February of 2023, with six teams based in Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Wanderers and Johannesburg competing. All the six teams in the league have been bought by IPL team owners. The league will take place in January and February 2023.
