New Delhi: Cricketer Mohammed Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan on Tuesday (May 2) moved the Supreme Court against the Calcutta High Court order which had dismissed her plea seeking to lift stay on the arrest warrant against her husband by issued by a local court.
Mohammed Shammi’s wife chalenged the Calcutta High Court order of March 28, 2023 whereby her request for quashing the order of Session Court was dismissed.
The arrest warrant issued against the player was stayed by a Sessions Court in West Bengal.
She has alleged that her husband, Shami demanded dowry from her and he was in an illicit extra-marital sexual affairs with prostitutes. She said that he had extra-marital sexual affairs especially during his BCCI tours, that too in the hotel rooms which were provided by the BCCI.
According to the petition, an arrest warrant was issued against Mohammed Sham by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alipore, on August 29 2019.
The order was challenged by the Mohammed Shami before the Sessions Court, after which a stay was ordered on arrest warrant and in the entire proceedings of the criminal trial.
Although, she moved to the Hogh Court of Calcutta but nothing worked in her favour.
Hasin also moved to the Supreme Court against the Calcutta High Court order dated March 28 2023.
In a plea before the Supreme Court, she raised concerns that there shall not be any special treatment for celebrities under the law.
