Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni
New Delhi: Ex- Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh recently shocked his fans by making a big statement about his relationship with former Indian caption MS Dhoni.
Speaking about his bond with the World Cup-winning captain, Yuvraj said that he and Dhoni were never close friends merely for the reason of being part of the Indian team. Yuvraj further told how he used to disagree with Dhoni’s choices and decisions numerous times and related it with the lifestyle differences that both the legendary cricketers had outside the field.
For the unaware, Yuvraj and Dhoni were two of the biggest names in Indian cricket of the last two decades. Both of them were a part of a young team India which won the inaugural edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa. They were also a part of India’s 2011 World Cup squad and played a crucial role in helping the men in blue script history to lift the ODI World Cup trophy after 28 years in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
While Yuvraj was awarded the Man of the Tournament title for his brilliant performance throughout the multinational tournament, Dhoni received the Man of the Match in the finals after playing a match-defining knock of 91* (79) against Sri Lanka in the ICC CWC 2011.

He said “‘Me and Mahi are not close friends, our lifestyle was very different, so we never were close friends, we only got along because of cricket. When me and Dhoni went on the ground we gave more than 100% to our team.
The 41-year-old cricketer further recalled the differences he had with the former Indian captain and said, “He was captain I was Vice Captian, I was 4 years junior so there were decision differences. Sometimes he didn’t like what I did, and sometimes I was not okay with what he liked, it’s like that in every team”
Yuvraj also made a shocking revelation in the show when he told Ranveer that it was Dhoni who told him that the selection committee was not considering him for the 2019 World Cup. “He (Dhoni) was the one who told me that the selection committee was not looking at me, I was happy as finally, someone had given me a clear picture of things.”, said the veteran cricketer in the chat show.
Yuvraj Singh’s relationship advice for youth
Later the cricketer also gave his advice on relationships and dating saying, “There is nobody out there who is 10/10 for you. Humans are flawed. So even if my partner is giving me 7 out of 10 things, she is my soulmate. These things happen automatically you don’t go looking out for him.”
He further said, “When I talk to younger cricketers like Shubhman I tell them there are two kinds of girls ek Jo kahe pehele practice pe jao fir mere pass aana aur jo kahe pehle practice karo fir mere pass aana. (One that says first practice then come to me, and another who says first come to me then go to for practice)

Yuvraj’s remarkable career as an International cricketer ended when he took retirement in 2019. A year later, Dhoni also bid his goodbye to international cricket and retired from all formats of the game. However, he continued to play in IPL for his franchise Chennai Super Kings which won the IPL trophy for the 5th time earlier this year.
