New Delhi: New Zealand will take on Sri Lanka in what will be the first full-time assignment of the newly-appointed New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner.
The Black Caps have included the services of Bevon Jacobs in their T20 Squad. Recently, Jacobs has been grabbing the headlines after Mumbai Indians roped in the 22-year-old in the mega IPL Auction. Moreover, the youngster proved his pedigree by notching up a 16-ball 39 for the New Zealand XI in a warm-up match against Sri Lanka earlier.
Naturally, the entire dugout will be expecting those big runs from the youngster in the coming future. The New Zealand team is undergoing a transition and players like Jacobs are expected to become the next line of cricketers alongside young talents like Rachin Ravindra and Nathan Smith.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka have promoted themselves from mere ‘pushovers’ to ‘giant killers’ courtesy of their recent rise in the red ball and white ball. The Lankans will be led by Charith Asalanka and will have some prominent names in T20 cricket notably Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and leggie Jeffrey Vandersay.
