New Delhi: The Pakistani cricket team on Saturday walked into the field against the New Zealand team with only one mission in mind, i.e., to keep their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign alive.
The Pakistani skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first, and that was the only thing that went into the men in green’s way.
New Zealand scored their highest-ever World Cup total of 401, and Rachin Ravindra also became the New Zealand batsman with the most centuries in World Cup history.

This is also the first time three Pakistani bowlers conceded 80+ runs in a match.
Netizens loved the batting prowess of the black caps and sparked a meme fest showcasing Pakistan’s disarray in bowling.

As it happened
New Zealand started the game on high as the openers gave a great start to their team by adding 68 runs for the first wicket.
Devon Conway (35) was the first one to depart, however, Rachin Ravindra (108) and skipper Kane Williamson (95) added 180 runs for the second wicket and set the stage for 400 runs total.
New Zealand, despite losing both Williamson and Ravindra in quick succession, still managed to put up 400 runs total on the board, thanks to handy cameos from, Daryl Mitchell (29), Mark Chapman (39) and Glenn Phillips (26*) to take the innings to 401 for 6 in 50 overs.
The bowling troubles
Pakistan conceded the most runs in an innings in their World Cup history 3 of their 6 bowlers conceded 80+ runs in the match.
Md. Wasim Jr. was Pakistan’s best bowler for the day with 3 wickets under his belt, while Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed and Hasan Ali also got one each.
