P Chidambaram lauds ‘Umran Malik Hurricane’, asks BCCI to provide him exlusive coach

Among numerous elated reactions from all around, many amplified the need to fast track the cricketer in the national team

New Delhi: In the exceptional four over of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, Umran Malik displayed a stunning show by picking up his maiden five-wicket haul, ending up the score at 5 for 25 during his four overs in the game.

Though, captain Hardik Pandya-led squad was able to make a win reinforcing its position on top as all the efforts by the young speedster Malik went in vain till the end of the high-scoring game.

However, the astonishing skills shown by the 22-year-old garnered excited reactions from not just the cricket gurus but also the political pandits. Among numerous elated reactions from all around, many amplified the need to fast track the cricketer in the national team, in view of the forthcoming T-20 world cup to be held in Australia later this year.

Among many other prominent names, one was senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, who was blown away seeing the staggering performance by Malik on Wednesday.

Former Finance Minister took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “The Umran Malik hurricane is blowing away everything in its way. The sheer pace and aggression is a sight to behold. After today’s performance there can be no doubt that he is the find of this edition of IPL”.

“The BCCI should give him an exclusive coach and quickly induct him into the national team,” he added.

Earlier in the season, when Malik’s four-wicket haul became the key factor in helping SRH to win over Punjab Kings, another Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor had also called for the cricket board to get him into the national team.

“We need him in India colours asap. What a phenomenal talent. Blood him before he burns out! Take him to England for the Test match greentop. He and Bumrah bowling in tandem will terrify the Angrez!” he had tweeted.
