Pakistan’s pacer Fatima Sana ruled out of Women’s Asia Cup 2022

As per Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Sana picked up the injury during the Women’s CPL this month.

New Delhi: Pakistan’s women’s cricket team has suffered a blow as their fast bowler Fatima Sana has been ruled out of the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup due to a twisted ankle. As per Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Sana picked up the injury during the Women’s CPL this month. She will be on four weeks’ rest as advised by the PCB’s medical team.

Sana was playing for Barbados Royals in the inaugural edition of the Women’s CPL, which was played from September 1 to 4. She played two out of the three games played by her team and picked up three wickets. She also played for Royals in the Women’s 6ixty, a T10 tournament, and took two wickets in five games.

Pakistan announced their 15-player squad for the tournament on September 7 and they will name a replacement for Sana in the due course. The team will be led by Bismah Maroof and will meet at a ten-day training camp starting from September 19 at the Lahore Country Club.

The ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup will take place in Sylhet, Bangladesh from October 1 to 16. The tournament will feature hosts Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, and UAE. The last Asia Cup was won by Bangladesh. While Thailand got a direct entry after considering their T20 rankings, UAE and Malaysia had to qualify by playing the ACC Women’s T20 Tournament held in Malaysia.
