Rahul Tewatia repeats Dhoni’s feat; Smashes two sixes in last 2 balls against PBKS; WATCH VIDEO

The 28-year-old cricketer who had previously played for Kings XI Punjab (the former avatar of Punjab Kings) and Delhi Capitals, had presented a memorable victory for Gujarat Titans.

New Delhi: Gujarat Titans were on the verge of facing a defeat against Punjab Kings where their scoreboard pointed out 12 runs needed off 2 balls. However, the table turned as Rahul Tewatia smashed two consecutive sixes in the last two balls and helped Gujarat Titans to win yesterday’s match by six wickets.

From needing 21 runs off nine deliveries to 18 runs off the last five deliveries, the last over the bowled by Smith, who restricted Tewatia and David Miller to 13 runs off three balls. Miller took a single and gave the breath-breaking task in the hands of Tewatia who finished it off by hitting two sixes in the last two deliveries, successfully chasing 190 runs.

The 28-year-old cricketer who had previously played for Kings XI Punjab (the former avatar of Punjab Kings) and Delhi Capitals, had presented a memorable victory for Gujarat Titans. Tewatia has now become the fourth batter after MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, and KS Bharat to finish an IPL match with a six on the last delivery when five or six runs were required.

Interestingly, Tewatia repeated Dhoni’s feat of hitting two sixes when 12 runs were required off the last two balls while he was playing for Rising Pune Supergiants against Kings XI Punjab. Axar Patel was bowling the final over then.

Meanwhile, talking about Gujarat Titans versus Punjab Kings, it seemed tough for the former to chase 190 runs. Opener Shubman Gill and skipper Hardik Pandya’s dismissals were the most unfortunate. Gill was just four runs away from scoring a century while Pandya got knocked off in the first ball of the last over. However, the game in the hands of Tewatia made it worth watching.
