Opening the inning for Mumbai Prithvi Shaw played an electrifying inning of 379 off just 383 deliveries, hitting 49 fours and 4 sixes. He helped his team to maintain a run rate of about 4 runs per over. Shaw laid a 123-run opening stand with Musheer Khan, who scored 42 off 72 balls. However, it was the 401-run stand between Shaw and captain Ajinkya Rahane that took the game almost out of Assam’s reach.

The batter was hitting a boundary in almost every 7-8 deliveries and the Assam’s bowling attack did not have an answer to him. He was finally dismissed by Riyan Parag for an lbw.

Prithvi Shaw did not have a good start to the tournament and could only manage one half-century in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23. His triple ton against Assam in Guwahati is a big boost for Mumbai who stands second in Elite Group B but faces competition from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh for qualification.

Meanwhile, Assam stands at number 5 and a loss in this game would hamper their chances to go into the quarterfinals.

In the game, Ajinkya Rahane also scored 131* off 252 at Lunch, while the team crossed the 600 mark after the break. Riyan Parag and Mukhtar Hussain managed to pick one wicket each but were not able to stop the flow of runs.
