RCB vs RR: Can Royal Challengers continue their upward march towards the Finals?

A super-charged Royal Challengers Bengaluru side will take on a struggling Rajasthan Royals side in the Eliminator of the IPL 2024.

New Delhi: Brimming with confidence, a super-charged Royal Challengers Bengalore side will take on a struggling Rajasthan Royals side in the Eliminator of the IPL 2024. Both sides enter this do-or-die match with contrasting results and fortunes.

On one hand, there is a remarkable story of a comeback from the Royal Challengers Bangalore. On the other side is the story of the derailment of a successful campaign of Rajasthan Royals. However, setting aside every past result, both teams will have to play at the top of their game to see them through the next round.

How is the pitch and the head-to-head record?

The match between RCB and RR is scheduled at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the pitch for Eliminator will be different from the one used in Qualifier 1. Naturally, a fresh pitch will be an even playing ground for both sides.

It is speculated that the competition will boil down to RCB’s batting prowess vs RR’s bowling versatility. Out of all possible match-ups, everyone is waiting keenly for the Virat Kohli vs Trent Boult showdown. Although Kohli has been able to thwart the menacing swing of Boult, the Indian batsman will be weary of the venom the left-hand seamer possesses.

Head-to-head RCB has the upper edge of 15 games to 13 games against RR. However, the difference is too minute to swing the game towards any one side. Moreover, both camps know that in such a high-octane game everything boils down to the performance of that particular day.

What is the predicted lineup?

RCB Probable XI

RCB will ride on the winning momentum and not think about changing and chopping with the playing XI. Naturally, the playing XI will be the same that they had fielded against CSK.

Probable XI: Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Faf du Plessis (c), Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Swapnil Singh, Karn Sharma, Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal.

Impact Players

Mohammad Siraj, Anuj Rawat

RR Probable XI

Rajasthan will look to find some form in their game against RCB. After starting the campaign with back-to-back wins Rajasthan has experienced a turn in the fortunes as they lost 4 back-to-back matches at the business end of the tournament. Eliminator might be the last opportunity for Samson and his boys to redeem themselves. The Royals are likely to field the same squad from the last game.

Probable XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, R Ashwin, Shimron Hetmyer, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sandeep Sharma.

Impact Players

Rovman Powell, Nandre Burger
